Digital vs physical
| Factor | Digital | Physical |
|---|---|---|
| Convenience | Always installed, instant swap | Requires cartridge |
| Sharing | Tied to your account | Lend or resell the cartridge |
| Storage | Uses 3.2 GB of console storage | Minimal console storage |
| Price | Occasional eShop sales | Retail price, secondary market |
| Switch 2 | Works on both systems | Works on both systems |
| For rhythm gaming | ✓ Recommended | Fine |
For most players: buy digital. Rhythm games benefit from instant access — you will want to jump in for a quick practice session often. Having to locate and insert a cartridge adds friction.
Nintendo Switch vs Switch 2
Supported on Nintendo Switch 2 (behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch). There is one version of the game that works on both consoles. If you own a Switch 2, you do not need to purchase a separate version or upgrade — the same cartridge or digital license works.
Try the demo first
If you are unsure whether the game is for you, download the free demo from the Nintendo eShop. It includes a real selection of minigames and gives an accurate feel for the core gameplay.
Where to buy

Buying FAQ
Should I buy digital or physical?
Digital is the more convenient option for a rhythm game — no cartridge to swap and the game loads instantly. Physical is better if you share games with others or prefer a collection. Both versions are identical in content.
Is there a Switch 2 Enhanced Edition?
No separate edition exists. Supported on Nintendo Switch 2 (behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch). Your existing cartridge or digital license works on both consoles.
Does it require Nintendo Switch Online?
No. All content in Rhythm Heaven Groove is playable offline. Nintendo Switch Online is not required for any feature in the game.
Is there a physical collector edition?
Nintendo announced a standard physical edition at launch. Check your regional Nintendo storefront for any special editions or bundles in your area.
